RULES OF THE
PROBUS CLUB OF
EWELL
1. TITLE -
The club shall
he called
"The
Probus Club of
Ewell".
2.
MEMBERSHIP -
Membership
shall be open
to all
professional
and businessmen
who have fully
or partially
retired from
their normal
profession or
business. An
applicant for
Membership
shall be
introduced by a
Member. The
said
application
shall be
subject to the
approval of the
Committee. The
total
Membership
shall not
exceed 80
unless
otherwise
decided by the
Committee.
3. OFFICERS
& COMMITTEE
- There shall
be a President,
Vice President,
Second Vice
President,
Honorary
Secretary,
Honorary
Treasurer,
Assistant
Secretary,
Speaker's
Secretary,
Social
Secretary, Webmaster and
Welfare
Secretary, all
to be elected
at the Annual
General
meeting. The
Club shall be
managed by a
Committee
consisting of
these officers
and two but not
more than four
ex-officio
members.
Members of
the Club,
elected at the
Annual General
Meeting. The
President of
the Club shall
retire from
Office after
completion of
one year in
Office, but he
shall
automatically
become an
ex-officio
Member of the
Committee for
the year
following his
retirement.
Officers shall
serve for a
maximum of five
years and
Members of the
Committee for a
maximum of
three years.
Four Members
of the
Committee shall
constitute a
quorum. The
Committee shall
have the power
to co-opt and
to appoint one
or more
Sub-Committees.
4. GENERAL
MEETINGS - An
Annual General
Meeting shall
he held in
March of each
year at such
time and place
as may he
determined and
at least three
weeks notice of
such Meeting
shall be given
to Members.
5. SPECIAL
GENERAL
MEETINGS - The
Secretary shall
call a Special
General Meeting
on the written
request of not
less than 10
Members and
shall give
Members at
least three
weeks notice of
such Meeting.
6. VOTING -
Voting at all,
Meetings shall
be by show of
hands or by
ballot if so
determined. In
the event of an
equal division
of votes, the
Chairman of the
Meeting shall
have a second
or casting
vote.
7. QUORUM -
Twenty Members
shall form a
quorum at an
Annual or
Special General
Meeting.
8.
AMENDMENTS TO
RULES - Shall
only be made at
an Annual or
Special General
Meeting.
9. FINANCIAL
YEAR - The
Financial Year
of the Club
shall run from
the 1st January
to the last day
of December.
10.
SUBSCRIPTION -
The amount of
the annual
subscription
shall be
determined by
the Committee
and confirmed
at the Annual
General Meeting
or at a Special
General
Meeting. A new
Member joining
after the 31st
July will pay
50% of the
annual
subscription in
his year of
joining.
11. NON
PAYMENT OF
SUBSCRIPTION -
In the event of
non payment of
annual
subscription
within 6 months
from l st
January the Committee
are empowered
to give written
notification to
the Member of
termination of
his Membership.
12. ACCOUNTS
- An Income and
Expenditure
Account for the
Financial Year
shall be
prepared and
presented each
year for
approval at the
Annual General
Meeting after
audit by the
Member elected
as Honorary
Independent
Examiner of
Accounts.
13. BANK
ACCOUNT - Shall
he in the name
of the Club,
with signatures
for cheques
from any two of
the President,
Vice President,
Treasurer and
Secretary for
the time being.
14. LUNCHEON
MEETINGS -
Luncheon
Meetings shall
be held monthly
at Bourne Hall
on the First
Wednesday of
each month
unless
otherwise
agreed by the
Committee.
Inability to
attend a Lunch
on Meeting
shall be
notified to the
nominated member of the Committee ** by
Midday on the
Monday
preceding the
Meeting.
Failure to
comply with
this Rule will
render the
Member liable
to meet the
cost of the
Luncheon not so
notified.
15. GUESTS -
Members may
invite Guests
to the Luncheon
Meetings but be
responsible for
payment of the
Luncheon fee
for the Guest.
The Treasurer
shall he
notified of
such Guests by
Midday on the
Monday
preceding the
Meeting.
16. AWARD of EXCELLENCE -
Any member may be awarded a Certificate, generally as an acknowledgement of
exceptional services to the Club. This award will be proposed by the
Committee and confirmed at any general meeting with a simple majority. This
does not affect any due subscriptions or rights of membership if still a
member of the Club.
