PROBUS CLUB OF EWELL

The Probus Club of Ewell was formed in 1971 and has 77 Members with a variety of professional backgrounds. We meet on the first Wednesday of each month to enjoy fellowship in a social manner, usually at a pleasant Council owned venue, Bourne Hall in Ewell, for a Lunch followed by a Speaker. A wide range of topics is covered and talks are often illustrated with slides or PowerPoint presentations.

The Club is run by a Committee comprising a President, 2 Vice Presidents, Treasurer, Secretary, Assistant Secretary responsible for Ladies' Lunches, Welfare Secretary who maintains contact with any Member in poor health, Speakers' Secretary, Social Secretary, Catering Secretary, and other Committee Members whose responsibilities include the monthly raffle and liaison with new Members. The latest edition is a Webmaster to administer our new Website.

Our AGM takes place in April each year, and two Ladies' Lunches are held in May and December at local venues. The Millennium was celebrated with lunch at the Queen's Stand at Epsom Racecourse.

A number of social outings have recently taken place including cruises on the River Thames, and visits to the Body Shop in Littlehampton, Tangmere Aviation Museum, Apsley House, and Chelsea Hospital in London. Four 4/5-day coach trips to Europe were made in 1997/8/9 and 2000. See Past Visits for a more up to date list.

The Club benefits from a steady influx of new Members and looks to the future with optimism.
