Ray Blears passed away on Monday 15th June at Epsom Hospital aged 74. He passed away peacefully, after a long illness, with his family beside him.

 

His funeral will be held at Randalls Park Crematorium, Leatherhead on Friday 3/7/09 at 1230pm. The funeral procession will leave from his house, 110 Chessington Road, Ewell, Epsom, KT19 9UZ, at 1145am.
Family flowers, and kind donations invited to the British Lung Foundation, through the funeral directors.

Eric Ellerton.

Passed away peacefully aged 93

Eric was a member from 1991 until May 2006 when he resigned after moving into Priory Court Care Home

Funeral, Randalls Park Crematorium, Friday 30th May at 11.45am

 

Friends are invited to attend a gathering to celebrate his life to be held at Priory Court Care Home, Old School Lane, Ewell on Wednesday, 4th June at 2pm.

Brian Cousins CBE - Senior Civil Service

Died on Sunday August 19 th 2007.

Funeral Service on Friday September 7 th 2007.

Brian served on the Club's committee for many years and was

President of the Probus Club of Ewell for 2001 - 2002

Brian was a civil servant with a high level of involvement in government policy and administration. After his service in the Royal Air Force as a pilot, flying the early jet aircraft the Meteor, when he completed his service as a commissioned officer he entered the Civil Service as a "Fast Track" candidate called the Mandarin route.

During his period of civil service he had sixteen different job specifications in at least seven different physical locations. Ranging over Devonport, Belfast, Malta, Chessington, Lee-on Solent, Germany and Whitehall in London. During that time he worked for at least thirty different Ministers: - including Heseltine, Healey, Geoffrey Johnston-Smith (as his Private Secretary for two years) John Profumo, John Stanley, Lord Mackay, Lord Irvine Denny and other not so distinguished or well known politicians.

After working in various locations for the Admiralty between the mid-fifties and early sixties, including overseas postings to Malta and Northern Ireland. Brian rose in the hierarchy to a Private Secretary to the Government's Permanent Secretary to the War Office.

Bryan  MORGAN

Died - Thursday 5 th February 2004 

Bryan was a past member of the Probus Club of Ewell and served for many years on the Committee his last position as Catering Secretary. Bryan served with distinction as aircrew in Bomber Command during World War11, he retained comradeship with his fellow airman every year at re-unions until his death. He will be greatly missed.

John McHale

Died - Saturday 12 July 2003 

John since his retirement has been heavily involved in voluntary work as Chairman of the Roseberry Housing Association and the Surrey Volunteering Services and other Charities, his services will be missed.

Keith Bradley Quantity Surveyor

Died - Thursday 21 st  November 2002 

Keith was a member of the Probus Club of Ewell from 1996 and passed away at the age of 75, he worked as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor for the Central Electricity Board  in the Transmission Division based at Guildford. 

He served in the Burma Campaign with the Royal Engineers. Keith was a keen supporter and active committee member of the Residents Association where his main interests were for local and environmental issues.

Fred was an ex-officio committee member of Probus Club of Ewell at the time of his death, and in the past had been Club Secretary for many years, after that period he became the Club President.
