THAMES RIVER CRUISE
TUESDAY 23rd JUNE 2009With JGF Passenger Boats for a 4 Hour River Cruise together with a light Buffet Lunch.
Leaving Walton on Thames at 11am PROMPT and arriving back at 3pm.
The parking is FREE at the car park by Walton Bridge which is very close to the boarding point.
At eleven hundred hours precisely thirty five members and friends departed the quay side, well from Walton pier, actually boarding steps in the direction of Kingston upon Thames all aboard the WALTON LADY, the day was brilliant sunshine as requested by our immediate past president John Mills who with a sub committee had arranged the day.
Nautical terms were much in use with corrections from those ex naval types, so we were all aloft or in the stern or bows, although the term of gone to the heads was very subdued!!.
This was a great time to chat up with all the local news as well as resolving the expenses conflict in Parliament, the bar pre lunch was in full swing but our treasurer put a stop to claiming these on Probus expenses.
It seemed no time after negotiating several locks to arrive in Kinston where we reversed our direction, went about is perhaps the correct term, or was it engines in reverse?
Soon after we were invited to a splendid and filling cold buffet taken below deck but not in the bilges followed by grapes and a wide selection of cheeses and then the it seemed the clock had rushed onwards and both fifteen hundred hours and Walton upon Thames had arrived, so John and team thank you for a great day.
