This
was Theo's (left) second presentation to the Probus club of Ewell, which
really means the first in early 2006 was so successful that a repeat but
new presentation was greeted with much anticipation. For those who
missed the first show are warmly invited to read the report found
here,
because this gave clear insights into Theo's background and development
from one profession into a totally different sphere.
Theo is based in Surrey,
and is a member of The Magic Circle since 1999, The International
Brotherhood of Magician’s, The Surrey Society of Magicians and Equity.
He is a very versatile magician, as he proved on our day, providing
entertaining magic for both children and adults and one assumes that
Probus members fall within one of those categories!
After
some humour of whether the day would be a repeat of the first, he then
outlined his progress and development not only in the field of magic but
into a much wider entertainment slots. Such as Birthday Parties,
Weddings, House Parties, Schools, Banquets, Hotels, Conferences, Society
Balls, Hospitality and Corporate Events. His Close-Up Magic, also known
as Table Magic is becoming increasingly more popular at Weddings,
Banquets and Corporate Events in and around Surrey, and all over the UK.
He
emphasised the facts between pure technical ability to perform the
skills of his trade and the balance necessary to provide the rapport
with the audience in terms of fun and entertainment which is necessary
to ensure that show is a mix of "customer" participation and
incredulity!
So in
terms of magic, with the help of the membership (not always so willing)
Theo, kept us all highly amused and indeed yet again baffled, he seemed
to turn the laws of physics on their head when a sharp needle was passed
through a blown up balloon without the expected explosion, did it really
pass through the balloon? well the baffled President thought so!
How did
he know one card selected from a pack, and indeed change the number of
cards safely in members pockets, most of us had no idea, but this was
achieved with apparent ease. His repartee was excellent and before we
realised the time had passed away and it was left to the President to
give a well earned vote of thanks and the membership showed their full
appreciation
